If your doggy is prone to developing gas, diarrhea or even vomiting whenever you feed him treats, he might be suffering from a dietary sensitivity, allergy or food intolerance.

But don’t worry, have your veterinarian check your pooch and once you’ve determined what exactly causes this sensitivity, you will be able to make tasty treats that don’t upset his digestive system.

Up to 10 percent of all allergies are food-related. Most dogs are sensitive to grains such as wheat, corn or rice.

You can make delicious grain-free treats for your furball by using quality, organic calf liver.

Cut the liver into strips of around 1/4-inch thick and lay them out on a baking sheet lined with paper. Bake them at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for about two hours. Remove them from the pan so they can cool and dry. You can even store these for later, since they can last for up to two weeks in the refrigerator.

Next, you can make oatmeal cookies. Lightly roast 1 1/4 of a cup of oat flakes in a skillet on the stove, stirring them until they start to smell warm. Add 3/4 of a cup of boiling water and let them steep for 10 minutes. Drop in a tiny pinch of sea salt, 2 tablespoons of sesame oil and 3 or 4 teaspoons of barley or rice syrup.

Add half a cup of whole-wheat flour, the same quantity of cooked brown rice and 3 tablespoons of sunflower seeds. Spoon onto an oiled baking tray in cookie shapes and bake them at 375 degrees for 25 minutes, and voila – delicious cookies are ready.

There’s also tasty chicken. They love it as much as we do. Some dogs may be allergic to it, but most of veterinarians are comfortable recommending skinless, boiled chicken breast.

And last but not least, there are fruits and veggies. Some pooches love fresh apple or carrot to chew on. If your dog is one of them, you have a perfect solution for this sensitive tummy situation. Pumpkins, broccoli, bananas, pears, peaches, strawberries, plums and pineapples are all healthy treats. How ‘bout them apples?
