Are you looking for a dog that can play for hours but also learn thing incredibly fast? If yes, then the Mudi might be the perfect breed for you. These herding dogs are one of the most intelligent breeds on the planet, and they’re the closest thing to perfect by many standards.

Mudis weight at around 25 pounds, but don’t let their relatively medium body frame fool you – they’re brave and ready to take on larger predators at any given moment.

That makes them perfect for people who live in the country, although they can also live in suburban neighborhood. If you live in an apartment, you should probably chose some other breed as these lovable pups need a lot of free, outside space.

This breed, which originates from Hungary, is incredibly intelligent and can even the hardest of tricks in almost no time. They need an owner who has time and good will to train them in a firm yet gentle manner, while also keeping them constantly mentally stimulated. This dog doesn’t like being bored and needs a lot of exercise.

When it comes to their temperament, Mudis can be very affectionate but they usually have an even temper at most times. They usually bond mostly with one person but they will never make other family members feel disliked. Make sure to socialize them with other dogs when they’re young. Since they are herders, they have a tendency for herding basically anything and anyone that moves, including children and other pets. However, this can be corrected with proper training.

Their look is nothing short of adorable and original– they have an unusual wavy/curly black or black-and-white coat, tall upside-down-V ears, and a curled tail. Their grooming maintenance level is low, so you won’t have any particular trouble with keeping them looking sharp. Just a quick brush now and then will do the trick.
