Much like us humans, dogs get bored as well, especially if you have only one route. Here are some useful tricks on how to mix it up a bit.

New Route

This is a win-win situation as the change can be good for both you and your pooch. We all tend to fall into routine, walking the same path each and every day without giving it much thought.

Try reversing the route. Start off in the direction you normally finish, and finish where you normally start.

Don’t be lazy. Start a bit earlier and continue for one block further. The brand new neighborhood and scenery is a whole new dimension for your dog. And who knows, maybe you end up running into an old friend.

Socializing

Don’t be afraid to stop and talk to strangers who are also walking their pooches. However, be polite and ask if you and your dogs can socialize a bit, but we’re sure that won’t be a problem.

If both dogs are getting along, this is a great opportunity to meet a new friend.

Pit Stop

If your route is quite long, try combining activities. You can surprise a friend a make stop at his or her place, or run by the pet store and treat Fido with a little something.

If your pooch is calm and doesn’t get anxious if you leave him or her tied in the street, you can run an errand as well. Stop at the grocery store or perhaps at the post office.

Invite Friends

Two is Company, but three or more is NOT a crowd. Invite an old friend, grab some coffee and catch up. The more the merrier.
