By now you have probably managed to find your dog’s favorite store-bought food he enjoys eating every day, but it is always good to start mixing it up a little bit.

The best way to do that is to, every once in a while, introduce a home cooked meal for your pooch.

This would be an excellent change in his diet and a great way for you to bond with your four-legged buddy. However, make sure you don’t overdo it.

If you start making him these delicious treats on a regular basis, your pooch might have hard time going back to his regular dog food.

Once a week is perfectly fine for this tasty rice and chicken treat for Fido, so why not start today? Let’s get busy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 – 2 cups no-sodium brown rice
  • 1 pound chicken breast
  • 1 pound bag no-sodium frozen carrots
  • 1 pound bag of no-sodium frozen peas
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • 1 tablespoon omega oil for dogs

Preparation

  1. Cook the brown rice in a large bowl, but make sure you don’t add salt.
  2. Boil the chicken breast and set them aside to cool.
  3. Drop the frozen veggies into the hot water and take them out once they are no longer frozen.
  4. Once the chicken meat is cool, shop it into small cubes (the size of the cubes depends on the size of your pooch).
  5. Mix the meat with rice, veggies, flax seeds and omega oil, and serve this treat to your pooch. Just be sure he doesn’t eat the bowl too.
