How Often Should You Bathe Your Dog In The Summer?

Some dogs get smelly faster than others and during the hot humid summer months it seems to be more difficult to properly deal with the stink.

On the other hand, most dogs don’t mind going without a bath for a long time so practically the frequency of your dog’s baths depends on you unless your dog has a skin condition that requires special care.

You should probably give your dog a bathe once a month if it’s not particularly stinky or take the pooch to the groomer if you don’t want to get your hands dirty. In this case use mild dog shampoo or baby shampoo to make sure all the dirt gets out without irritating your dog’s skin.

If you like you can soak your dog in water once a week, especially if your owner-dog summer activities include trips to the lake or into the woods packed with muddy areas. Use moisturizing shampoo and soap-free shampoo to avoid hypersensitivity of your pooch’s skin to the chemicals most regular shampoos contain.

We have a 2 year old GSD that has never been bathed. He is fed a raw diet, has exceptionally clean teeth, no doggie smell or doggie breath.
