Not only is it important for humans to look forever youthful, it now seems that our furry counterparts should bathe in the fountain of youth too.

Enter the Cava-Poo-Chon, which is a designer breed of pup that has canine lovers of the world in a dither.

These adorable cross-bred pups retain the puppish good looks for the duration, so if you’ve ever wished your puppy could stay the same forever, this is perhaps the breed for you.

Also, just like your favorite pillows and makeup, the Cava-Poo-Chon is hypoallergenic, even those allergic to dogs might stand a chance with this ideal dog. Healthy, smart, alert and cute, you might just want one of these little critters for yourself.

The Cava-Poo-Chon as part of a continuing trend seeking the “perfect dog”

The American Kennel Club resists acknowledging this new breed of dog since it has become a pattern of breeders trying to create this ideal cross-breed, tailored to a niche market of people who want a designer dog just like they want designer handbags and jewelry.

The Cava-Poo-Chon is poised to take the spotlight from miniature Yorkies and Maltese at this point, so the trend is by no stretch new.

It might give pause as to how far breeders might take this obsession with having an eternally fresh faced pup.

The triple cross or tribrid method at work

A geneticist and reproductive veterinarian came up with the method of cross-breeding that generated the Cava-Poo-Chon. By combining a Bichon Frisé, a miniature Poodle and a cavalier King James Spaniel, the Arizona team came up with this curly pup that will look the same from the time it is a puppy until its older years.

Considered the best of the three breeds, the team justifies the hefty price tag that ranges between $2,000 and $3,500 per dog.

Longevity might ease the sticker shock

The team does note that the potential longevity of these dogs is part of what makes them so appealing and worth the cost since they can live healthily up to 20 years. There is something to be said for feeling reasonably sure your companion will spend a long time with you.

But the price tag is clearly prohibitive for many dog lovers around the world, no matter how many additional years they may get to spend with their beloved pooch.

Also, the idea of cross-breeding doesn’t sit well with many dog lovers, veterinarians and other pet professionals around the world either.

PawNation reports that Darlene Arden, a certified animal behavior consultant has noted that many times these breeds end up suffering from health problems due to the genetic maneuvers.

Often, veterinarians fear working with these dogs since their internal organs are so small.

The real price of cute and adorable

Clearly, this new breed of puppy is eye catching and breathtakingly adorable, but the question might be whether it is a good idea to encourage such genetic tailoring when there are so many dogs in the world.

Since there is clearly a market with people ready to pay for and love these dogs, they do have their place in the world, so here is hoping for all the longevity and good health that their creators suggest they will have.
