A good chunk of dog owner probably believes that their pets are pretty smart, however, they establish this by observing how fast their pooch learns something or how creative it gets when it needs to overcome an obstacle. Luckily for the rest of us, an actual dog IQ test has been developed.

Who’s A Smart Boy?

A research team from the London School of Economics and Edinburgh University has successfully created an IQ test that will allow us to evaluate how smart a dog is more precisely.

This new intelligence test consists of a series of challenges a dog has to overcome. These challenges include finding a way around barriers, recognizing human pointing gestures, and more.

But it’s not just the smarts of a canine that were measured here. In fact, this whole project came into existence in the goal of determining if IQ plays a part in a dog’s longevity.

In other words, the scientists are trying to figure out if smarter dogs live longer. But don’t worry – intelligence isn’t the only factor that influence’s your pooch life span, as there are breed, exercise, diet, medication, and many more factors.
