Sometimes nothing can warm up a home like a new puppy. In most cases, a tiny pooch will become everyone’s favorite pet and something every member of the household will smile about.

However, the process is not that simple, as any home needs to be equipped with certain things – or stripped thereof.

Straight Rules

The majority of experts in dog training suggest that you should start teaching your dog what’s right and what’s wrong from a very early age.

That being said, this includes training your new puppy into staying away from certain objects.

We’ll start off with the obvious – balconies and windows.

Although dogs might not be just as curious as cats, some of them possess an adventurous spirit and won’t shy from trying to get everywhere.

When this is combined with a puppy’s incomplete sense of balance and space, you’ve got yourself an accident waiting to happen.

Next up are medication cabinets and compost bins. These are quite logical, as most pooches are known for eating without restraint even if their target is most likely poisonous or even lethal. In short, keep puppies away from medications and trash.

Finally, you’ll simply have to get the following objects out of the way: electrical cords, chemicals, toxins, laundry baskets, tobacco products, and even certain household plants and common foods. A puppy is very likely to try to chew or eat any of these things, so make sure they are unreachable to it before you bring your new friend home.
